The architecture of buildings
along T.Shevchenko street from Nos. 26,12 (the corner of
Pirogov Street) till No. 30 are typical for the middle and
second half of XIX century. This street as it is now was
continued in the 30th of XIX century according with the
general plan of that time. It was called "Bulevarnaya",
then "Shosseyny" boulevard, then "Universitetskaya" because
the several buildings of the University appeared there (middle
of 1850th).
The street was renamed in honour of Kiev's Governor-General
D.G.Bobrikov. It has been bearing the current name since
1919.
